DRIVERS are being warned that an abnormal load will be on mid Cheshire's roads on Tuesday, May 13.

An electrical transformer will be passing through the area on the second stage of a three-day journey from Ellesmere Port to Stafford.

It will be leaving Kelsall at about 9.30am and travelling on the A54, Road One in Winsford Industrial Estate, the A533, A556, A5082 Pennys Lane and the A50 to Holmes Chapel.

The load with trailer weighs 313 tonnes and is 74 metres long, 5.5 metres wide and about 5 metres tall.

I bumped into one of these type things last week around Congleton/Holmes Chapel.

Don't know how long the vehicle and transporter was but it was very long and slow moving.

Didn't particularly bother me, probably because I was near the front and I quite liked looking at whatever it was.

As it turns out they do quite a few stops so that traffic can pass.

It never ceases to amaze me why they put these vehicles on the road in the day time.

Surely it is best for everyone to shift them in the middle of the night so the vast majority of us are not inconvenienced?
