PLANS to build two houses on a former tennis club in Davenham have been withdrawn.

The proposal related to land at the back of 395 London Road, near to Davenham Roundabout, and was for two detached dwellings and garages.

Davenham Parish Council discussed the plans at its latest meeting and objected on the grounds of highways and the environment.

Clr Gaynor Sinar, Cheshire West and Chester councillor for Davenham, Moulton, Leftwich and Kingsmead, said she had flagged the development up with officers.

“There’s a lot more traffic now the houses are being built in Green Lane and the residents that live nearby object,” she said.

“They’re going to suffer the most by all the big lorries going past during construction.

“The planning officer has also said that’s it’s an infringement of open countryside.

“Although it looks like Cheshire West and Chester Council is building anything anywhere there are quite a few plans that don’t get through.”

Access to the site is along a narrow lane off London Road, which also caused concern for councillors.

Clr Arthur Wood said: “I can’t see anything other than a large van getting up that lane and there’s a danger of collapsing the bank into the ditch.”
